An Iconic NYC Landmark

This iconic skyscraper is a defining feature of New York City's Financial District skyline. Completed in 1930, it was originally designed to be the tallest building in the world, engaging in a legendary height competition with the Chrysler Building during the roaring 1920s. Although it briefly held the title, it was ultimately surpassed when the Chrysler Building added its famous spire. Designed in the Art Deco style by the architectural firm H. Craig Severance and Yasuo Matsui, the structure embodies the grandeur and ambition of its era, with intricate detailing, grand setbacks, and a crown-like spire at its peak.

Over its storied history, this skyscraper has become a symbol of resilience and adaptation. Originally built as a banking headquarters, it later transitioned into a bustling hub of business activity, offering 1.3 million square feet of office space across 72 stories. Significant renovations in 1998 restored its Art Deco features while seamlessly integrating modern updates. With its six two-story vaults embedded in the bedrock and its commanding presence, the building remains an enduring testament to New York City’s architectural ingenuity and global economic influence. Today, it stands as a historical landmark and a vibrant part of Manhattan's ever-evolving skyline.
